Dr Izolda Heydenrych

Izolda is Director and co-founder of the Cape Town Cosmetic Dermatology Centre and currently in full-time private practice. Before specializing in Dermatology, she obtained an Hons.B.Sc in Nuclear Medicine (University Stellenbosch) and Diploma in Anaesthetics (SA College of Medicine). She is Immediate – President of the South African Society for Dermatological Surgery (SASDS), served on the Executive of the Dermatological Society of South Africa and is a founding/EXCO member of the African Womens’ Dermatological Society (AWDS). In 2018 she was awarded the SASDS Lifetime award for exceptional contribution to procedural dermatology.

Dr Willie Visser

Clinical Dermatology

Dr Visser is the Head of Dermatology at University of Stellenbosch, Tygerberg Academic Hospital. He also works as a part-time consultant in dermatology for a number of private institutions. He earned his medical degree from the University of Stellenbosch. He completed both his M.Fam.Med and MMed (Dermatology) at University of the Free State. He is the current treasurer of the Dermatological Society of South Africa (DSSA). He has an active interest in research and focuses on establishing a culture of research in the division of dermatology and also among medical students. He is actively involved in a number of community projects and provides consulting services to popular magazines and to peripheral hospitals and clinics.

Dr Micky Orrey

Foundation fillers, toxins

Dr Micky Orrey is a clinical dermatologist in private practice in Cape Town. She is a specialist in both Dermatology and Internal Medicine, having completed training in South Africa and Germany. She is actively involved in advancing Dermatology in South Africa, having held an executive committee position for the South African Society for Dermatological Surgery (2017-2018). Her passion for teaching and mentoring is channeled into presenting the Clinical Diploma in Dermatology at the University of Cape Town (UCT), and teaching Aesthetic Medicine to Dermatology registrars at both UCT and the University of Stellenbosch. Her interest in aesthetic beauty also extends to botany and wild flower photography.

Dr Deon vd Westhuizen

Anatomy and dissections

Dr van der Westhuizen specializes in the integration of modern techniques of Facial Rejuvenation Surgery. This includes Endoscopic Browlift Surgery, eyelid restoration, structural fat grafting; facial implant, deep level face and neck lift procedures. He maintains a minimally invasive facial rejuvenation clinic, employing Botox and filler agents, as well as the non-invasive Thermage face and body treatments. He has practiced the minimal scarring, vertical (or Lollipop) technique to reshape the breast (lift or reduction) since 1995. Breast enhancement surgery follows individual assessment, according to the teachings of Dr J Tebbetts.

Professor Ncoza Dlova

Hair, nails and cosmeceuticals

Ncoza Dlova is a Professor, Chief Specialist and Head of Dermatology at the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine and was awarded her PhD in 2015. Dlova was appointed as Dean and Head of School of Clinical Medicine at UKZN and is the first African and first Woman to hold this post in the 70yr history of UKZN Medical School. She is the only female medical dean out of the 9 Medical schools in SA. In 2016, she was elected as the international member of the prestigious American Dermatology Association in recognition of her research, local and international contribution to Dermatology. She was instrumental in the establishment of the African Society of Dermatology and Venereology (ASDV).

Dr Ean Smit

Laser and energy-based devices

Dr Ean Smit graduated from Stellenbosch University as a Dermatologist, after which he attended the Department of Dermatology at Baylor University Medical Centre in Dallas, Texas. He underwent further training in Cutaneous Laser Surgery at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute and the South Western Medical Centre in Dallas as well as at the Scripps Laser Centre in La Jolla, California and in Boston, Massachusetts. Ean is Director and co-founder of the Cape Town Cosmetic Dermatology Centre in Cape Town and a frequent lecturer on all aspects of laser surgery. He is also a noted national authority on Cutaneous Laser Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Ean’s main focus is skin rejuvenation, using non-surgical methods and laser technology.

Dr Koenraad De Boulle

Injectable Complication Management

Dr Koenraad De Boulle is a dermatologist and director of a private dermatology clinic, Aalst Dermatology Clinic in Aalst, Belgium. This subspecialty association of six dermatologists serves as a referral centre for complex dermatology, dermsurgical and cosmetic indications. He also developed a special interest in diagnosing and treating complications of non-surgical procedures and receives referrals from across the globe on this subject. Dr De Boulle has conducted numerous phase II–IV clinical studies on multiple therapeutic, dermatologic surgery and cosmeceutical compounds. Dr De Boulle has been a frequent lecturer and trainer at national and international educational events for more than two decades, and has been appointed reviewer for many major dermatologic surgery and plastic surgery journals.
